Although I had many successes, I didn’t feel successful. After I was diagnosed with ADHD, a light bulb went on that explained why my struggle was real. I realized I wasn’t lazy, stupid, or irresponsible but was actually very smart. Medication made a huge difference and kept me afloat for a while, but I was still not able to feel the level of success and make the changes I was looking for in life. Five years later, my son was diagnosed with ADHD. I was determined not to let him drown in the frustration of paralyzing ADHD symptoms and the negative messaging that comes with them. This led me to want to learn more about ADHD and become a coach who specializes in helping people with these symptoms have more satisfying relationships and lead more productive lives. Through coaching my son plus others, and being coached, I realized that after years of perceived failures, it is easy to develop an I can’t mentality. I made it my purpose to show us that we can.
However, as time went on the medication and the strategies were not as effective as they had once been. I developed fibromyalgia, and in 2021, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I began seeing a different kind of coach who showed me how to work with my nervous system and “little t” traumas from living with ADHD for decades. We worked with my belief systems, my shadow, and truly feeling physical sensations associated with my pain. Guided by her influence, I began practicing Kundalini Yoga to help stabilize my nervous system and worked with compassionate inquiry to heal my traumas. As I progressed with these things, my field started to clear, and my ADHD symptoms continued to recede into the background rather than the forefront. My body feels better, I am in remission, and I remain calm. I am now off all of my medications, my house is clean and organized, my family is thriving, and my relationships with others are much more satisfying. Now, my vision has expanded beyond “we can” to knowing that I can hold the lantern for you to become calmer, clearer, and more confident so that you can live your best life.
